Frequently asked questions

  • I graduated from Boston University with my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine in 2013.

I’ve led about 1000 hours of group therapy since 2013, at the Faulkner Hospital, AdCare, and the Gavin Foundation.

My groups have covered relapse prevention, anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, building a sober support network, spirituality, and codependency, among other topics.

  • I am not in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. I have lived experience with other mental health conditions, and live a recovery lifestyle as it pertains to them—engaging in a regular set of behaviors and activities that maintain my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health to keep me feeling my best.

I am very familiar with the 12 steps through my work, and have attended many AA and Al-Anon meetings to grow my understanding about the spiritual solution for recovery.

  • Outpatient group therapy is typically led by a licensed therapist, and is supportive, yet goes beyond a traditional support group in terms of the structure, education, and connection you can expect to experience in the group.

Where support groups may focus mainly on sharing and connecting over mutual experiences, therapy groups also include skill building, insight building, and structured topics, so you can expect to learn and feel you are gaining tools and making progress on areas of your recovery that are important to you.

  • Rates for group therapy are 35 dollars per session.
